Scottie Scheffler of the U.S., ranked No. 1 in men's golf in the world, has been named the world's best newsmaker for 2024 this year.

According to this year's golf newsmaker rankings released by U.S. golf media Golf Digest on the 14th, Scheffler ranked first.

Scheffler has won seven PGA Tour games this year and has won nine major tournaments, including the gold medal at the Paris Olympics and the Hero World Challenge hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation.

He made 2024 his year, winning the Masters, a major tournament, and winning the PGA Tour FedEx Cup title.

Scheffler is also ranked third in the newsmaker's category.

The third place newsmaker was the case in which Scheffler was arrested during the PGA Championship in May for not following police officers' instructions to deal with traffic accidents near the entrance to the stadium.

Negotiations between the PGA Tour and the Saudi Arabian National Wealth Fund (PIF) for the integration of golf groups ranked No. 2 in golf newsmakers this year.

Xander Shopley of the U.S., who won the PGA Championship and the Open this year, was ranked fourth, and Nelly Korda of the U.S., the world's No. 1 golfer, was ranked fifth.

There were no Korean players in the newsmaker's top 25.

Two Korean-born players were named, with Lydia Ko (New Zealand), the women's gold medalist at this year's Paris Olympics, ranked eighth and Anthony Kim (USA), who returned to LIV Golf this year, ranked 25th. 메이저사이트
